President's Report
As the President of the Calgary Council for Advanced Technology (CCAT), I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the CCAT Board of Directors, committee chairs, volunteers, partners and sponsors on another very successful year in community building, and providing a forum that facilitates the acceleration of the innovation lifecycle timeline.
Through dedication, tenacity and a lot of hard work, the CCAT Board and volunteers produced a variety of events, including the smashingly successful Marquees dinner event in May 2011 hosting world class speaker Dr. Illah Nourbakhsh, Professor of Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University.
For CCAT, 2010 was a year of many transitions, with an emphasis on partnership building and process enhancement, enabling CCAT to build momentum and grow. 2011 was a time of outreach to clients, technology and business associations, industry groups, government agencies and business sponsors to build support for the services CCAT provides. It also was a year of preparing CCAT for the economic rebound as the world recovers from the recent financial market turmoil.
As in 2010-2011, CCAT’s ongoing activities and key initiatives in 2011-2012 will continue to be focused and balanced among three central themes: efficiency, capacity building and innovation. CCAT will continue to engage with the community and to work collaboratively with partners and sponsors, and will continue with initiatives and programs that support the introduction of advanced technologies and innovations to our communities.
