The Leading Edge of Bio Fuel

Biofuels are gaining increased public and scientific attention as a potential replacement for fossil fuels, and global investment into this technology is growing. To discuss the future of this important scientific development, the Calgary Council for Advanced Technology is presenting “The Leading Edge of Biofuel” on January 19 at Alberta Innovates. Richard Gibsonwill be addressing technological research and development leading agri-businesses and industry into bio-products and bio-fuels.Mr. Gibson is the CTBI Marketing Manager at the Alberta Research Council in the Industrial Bio-Products Life Sciences Division. He has degrees in microbiology, plant science and plant pathology and a broad professional background in the agricultural, private, and government sectors. He also works with research teams across the country to develop industrial materials and energy. John Kochwill be speaking from the business side of the issue, presenting his perspective as President and CEO of an entrepreneurial company that develops clean technologies. Mr. Koch is the President and CEO of SFN Biosystems of Calgary. SFN develops clean technologies, including using rejected heat that would otherwise be wasted to produce biomass that can be used for multiple different functions. Biofuels are fuels that are derived from biomass - whether it’s solid, liquid, or gas - and are considered a possible replacement for or addition to fossil fuels. Event Details
