The Leading Edge of Environment & Water
*****IMPORTANT - EVENT RESCHEDULED TO THIS WEEK*****
Life Cycle, Challenges & Optimization ToolsThis event was originally scheduled for February 16, but due to unforeseen circumstances, it has been rescheduled for March 2. Pre-purchased tickets can be used towards this event. Additional tickets can still be purchased at www.ccat.org or (403) 282-4759. Less than 1% of the world’s fresh water is readily accessible for direct human use, and approximately one in eight people lack access to safe water supplies. With global populations surging, water utilities are faced with many challenges, from aging infrastructures and increasing facility power costs to greater competition for this limited supply of water. To enlighten us on the life cycle, challenges and information technology (I.T.) tools allowing for cost-effective management of this vital resource, the Calgary Council for Advanced Technology is presenting “The Leading Edge of Environment and Water” on February 16 at Alberta Innovates. Mike Lauchlan will be discussing how both old and new information technology is being leveraged to optimize operations costs and water use for the utility and the growing population it serves. Some of the technology mentioned will be SCADA, facilities management, geographic information systems (GIS) and hydraulic models. Event Details
